Our ARTIST Peggy King

Peggy King loves to mold pottery as well as creative minds.  She instructs our “Intro to Wheel Throwing” and “Wheel Experience” classes here at smARTivities Showcase. Her love for ceramics started at a very young age when she would dig clay in the stream behind her house growing up.   In high school, she learned how to throw pots on the wheel.

She majored in ceramics at Arcadia University in Glenside, PA, receiving a BFA and a minor in education in 2003.  King was also given the opportunity to study abroad at Glasgow School of Art where her ceramic skill improved dramatically. In addition to instructing our pottery classes, she also teaches ceramics at Northampton Community College in Bethlehem, PA.

The aspect of ceramics that she enjoys the most is that the discipline is so multi-faceted.  One can hand-build, throw on the wheel, slip cast, mold make, and learn glaze chemistry.  The discipline has really endless possibilities – the only limit is your own creativity.  She looks forward to meeting new students hearing about their lives, while guiding them in their creative pursuits.
